Teena
Hall migrated to New York at the impressionable age of twenty three
where she embarked on a modeling career which concluded after two
years. The next plane for Hall was the intoxicating world of stand-up
comedy - for the ensuing four years Teena was a regular at Governors,
Eastside Comedy and The Comic Strip, as well as appearing at Carolines
in NYC and the Treehouse in Connecticut.
Teena Hall has
been seen on ABC, Fox TV and Comedy Central's 'Talk Soup'. Hall
was also a prevailing cast member on the local cable variety show/sitcom,
'Rhythm Room TV'. In addition, Teena was employed by NBC Studios
on Saturday Night Live for a provisory stint in 1993.
Teena has studied
Improv at Eastside Comedy Club, as well as performing Improv at
The Brokerage Comedy Club with Joan St. Onge, formerly an agent
at Omnipop, who has worked with several up-and-coming comedians
from Long Island, including Kevin James. Hall has also explored
the domain of sketch writing/performing through Chicago City Limits
in NYC.
Next, Teena
was meticulously educated in the Meisner Technique under the tutelage
of Michael Camden Richards. MCR having studied under the master
himself, Sanford Meisner - this was through The New American Stage
Company, of which Hall's been a member since 1996. Most recently,
Hall has benefited enormously from Solo Performance Workshops and
private coaching with writer/director, Abra Bigham.
Teena has also
appeared in several theatrical productions at The Author's Playhouse
and The Brokerage Comedy Club on Long Island. Although Teena continues
to be enamored with being in front of live audience members she
found that her true passion is in writing fiction.
Having just
buttoned up her first novel, Raising Hell Under the Prayer Tree,
Hall is now devoted to creating a non-fiction publication about
her nightmarish yet jocular dating adventures, as well as two more
books in the Raising Hell trilogy.
Teena regularly
showcases her work through monologues, before live audiences, with
terrific response to the characters drawn from her own life experience
at the Off-Off-Broadway theatre, 'Where Eagles Dare' part of The
NY Solo Play Lab (Cheryl King Productions).
